Dinajpur Exchange was established in 1985 as 300 line CB. The exchange was destroyed in a dynamite explosion during the war of liberation in 1971. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1972, a 20-line cordless magneto telecommunication was temporarily established. The 400 Line CB Exchange was established in 1983. Later in 1985 1000 line EMD Auto Exchange was established. It has been running as a digital exchange since 2000. At present the capacity of the Exchange is -10,000, Connection Number-5517 Dial-up Internet Connection Number-560, ADSL Connection Number-222, Dinajpur Telecom Division consists of Greater Dinajpur (Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh) districts. Total number of exchanges in the said telecom division - 24 Capacity - 25,72 Effective number of connections - 12,642 Dialup Internet connection number - 979 E-1 connection number - 8, ADSL connection number - 233, WLL 16, including three district cities Dinajpur Telecom Division consists of 23 Upazilas and 1 Growth Center.
